| About this website
There are plenty of websites promoting and selling Ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock prints). This website has a rather different focus. It is basically a source for Japanese books, with an additional page listing other material that I have picked up along the way. This is a commercial website (I finance my own collecting by selling material here), but it also aims to educate and inform. If you have questions about material in Japanese or related to Japan, I will be happy (within limits) to offer what help I can. I also maintain a wants list of books that people have requested. This is a very hit and miss thing; I may turn up the requested item fairly quickly, or it may take months or I may never track it down. Still, if you have a request it is worth contacting me; I may be able to help. I'm better with items that fall within my own sphere of interest, but I'll do my best to track down anything people ask for.
About me I am a teacher of English literature in a Japanese university; visit my website for students to find out about that side of my life. I spent years as a research student poring over rare books and manuscripts, but at that stage my interest was in the contents. I did not become interested in books as collectible objects until much later on. You can find links to my own collections below

for more expensive items. GUARANTEE I
am first and foremost a collector, not a trader, and I want to be sure
that any book I pass on is going to be appreciated and valued by its new
owner. I guarantee that, if you are not satisfied for any reason, I will
take it back and refund you the cost of the book, providing you return
it promptly and in the same condition as you received it. If your dissatisfaction
arises from any error on my part the refund will, of course, include your
postage/insurance costs.
